  4th of July Musings
Last day of June and July 4th (good info) will be celebrated here soon in this restless, perplexed and anxious nation. In these hot and perilous times, we usually have a close family get together in a small town in North Florida. We will drive 170 miles visit, eat and swim etc. then come home the same day. Lots of expensive gas and a little tiring, but very good to do.

On Monday, July 4th, our city's parade route is on a street which is only one house away from ours. We just walk over with our lawn chairs to our neighbor's tree shaded yard to watch the show. It's very meaningful to me to see a small, home town American parade, and convenient too. The floats range from the well made to the very hand made, but it's always interesting, and gives me a good, patriotic feeling.

After the parade, I can walk two blocks to another tree shaded area where a local Baptist Church serves free hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks and lots of other good things. There are many activities for children, and it gives our small community a chance to come together for some summer fun. Later in the day we go to some friends' home on the river where we eat some outstanding food and have more fun. At night, our city does a great fire works show, a few blocks down our street, which we can see from our home. Finally, there are always many good movies and TV shows on the 4th.

I hope your 4th of July will be as good as mine. Happy 4th!

  Blog from email
This is a test of making blog entries by email. It has rained a lot today and is still raining. Just as I stepped out to go to my car tonight, lightning struck real close to me. That was the only bolt anywhere around our home all day. Needless to say I postponed my trip to the car.

  Using My Blog More Now
Spent some time reviewing, and working on my blog tonight. So, here goes. Now, I'll start using it more with text and audio.

There's a lot of local and national political activity going on now. Let's hope it leads to the progressive changes we need. Rod Smith will make a good governor. Let's help him get elected.

See photos of Rod that I took at the Pinellas Democratic Party HQ last week: http://www.pinellasdemocrats.com/photo.html My photos are at the BOTTOM of the page.

Time to go watch Nightline on this very rainy Wednesday night. Nightline has Bill Cosby talking about his efforts to get blacks to improve their lives. He is a good man doing god work in spite of some allegations against him.

  As Usual
This morning, as usual, my wife is doing meaningful tasks i.e. making beds and straightening up the house while I am reading newspapers and articles on the internet. I am always contrasting, comparing and questioning the relative merits and demerits of the activities we do. It's important to me to know what's happening in our world, but it also seems to me that most people only want to focus on what they can see, touch and hear in their immediate vicinity. I live in an impractical world of knowledge and information while they live in a practical world of cleaning up and everyday chores.

Note: If you make a comment you will need to scroll down on the comment area page to a word verifcation code which keeps my blog from being spammed. Thank you. I'm not sure what this blog is all about yet, but I do know that everything and everybody is "wabi sabi", which means incomplete, impermanent and imperfect. There now. Did that help? If not, I hope you enjoy my blog anyway.
